The Mystery of the Magi

The Mystery of the Magi ✝️

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His STAR in the East and have come to WORSHIP HIM.” – Matthew 2:1-2

WHO WERE THE MAGI?

600 years before the birth of Yeshua Jesus, the king of Babylon (now Iraq) and his armies invaded the Holy City of Jerusalem. Among the spoils they took was a young teen named Daniel. Daniel began his life under the rule of king Nebuchadnezzar as a slave. Among these was a caste of people who are known as the Chaldeans. In Daniel Chapter 2 we learn more about them. They were wise scientists of that day, Astrologers who were capable of interpreting dreams. But this time, King Nebuchadnezzar demanded that they not only interpret his dreams, but that they do so without knowing what the dreams were! Just before the King dispatched them all for their incompetence, they produced the young slave Daniel, who had been included in this group because of the powers that the God of Israel had given him. Young Daniel was of the tribe of Judah and he worshiped the true God of Israel. Daniel saved the Chaldeans that day by giving the king just what he asked for. From that time on, the Chaldeans listened to Daniel and believed in his God, as did king Nebuchadnezzar himself!

Renowned author and Bible teacher Hal Lindsey once told the story of the Chaldean Magi. It is fascinating to think that Daniel shared with them the secret of Jesus coming. Daniel served with them on the king’s court for over 70 years. Believers since they met Daniel, the Chaldeans now studied the Scriptures! And they knew of the prophecies of the coming Messiah. And through the generations, these Gentile Chaldeans continued to follow the Scriptures, understanding that Jesus was to be born in Bethlehem. And they knew of the prophecy of Daniel himself (in Daniel 9) that revealed the exact time that Jesus would enter Jerusalem as king on Palm Sunday. And it was Daniel who would have shared the secret of the Star of Bethlehem with the Chaldean Court members during that time. And they passed that knowledge on, generation by generation. And we all know the story. Centuries later, the Magi used their knowledge of the Scriptures and the Star of the Bethlehem to find Jesus!

Friend, like Daniel, we live in an enlightened culture. Our heritage is rich with the Scriptures and knowledge of Jesus Christ. In fact, the Bible says in Romans 1:20 that we are “without excuse”. The prophet Daniel was able to predict the very day that Jesus entered Jerusalem. Over 300 Old Testament  prophecies about Yeshua Jesus have been fulfilled. The Bible has been validated by secular historians and archaeology.  The Dead Sea Scrolls are proof of its miraculous preservation through the centuries.

My friend, there is an abundance of scientific REASON to believe. But if that is not enough, believe this:  Believe that YOU are REASON that He gave His life. You are the REASON He suffered and died. To a world that was lost He gave all He could give… YOU are the REASON He lived. ❤️
